We got the go-ahead last week from GreenStar but need some additional points in Water Conservation. One of the ways is to do low-flow plumbing fixtures and dual-flush toilet. Will have to do more research on this. Any ideas?
There are a number of dual flush and HET options out there for toilets. Check out Toto, Kohler, and Caroma (Natural Built Home carries Caroma). It's a bit more difficult to find low flow faucets- but if you dig a bit and ask manufacturers, they often have an low flow aerators that can be added. In my experience, they don't always advertise or promote this, so you have to ask the technical help lines. Same deal with shower heads in that you can add an aerator. It's a bit easier if you're willing to mix and match fixtures. Good luck and congratulations on the big hole! Roxanne
Sterling makes a great dual-flush system that is not only more attractive than coroma units but also have an elegant flushing mechanism that is easy to repair. The added benefit of coming from a local manufacturer that can service the unit if there are problems is important. Sterling is available through any number of retailers who carry Kohler products. Delta has an excellent 1.5 gpm showerhead that feels like a regular showerhead with large water droplets instead of the skin piercing models. Aerators are typically available from each manufacturer and can be ordered with the fixture. You can specify the volume you are looking for. Toto has a new motion sensing faucet that uses .5 gpm. The sensor is powered by an internal recharging system that gets power from the water flowing through the unit.
